Busselton, Western Australia
Busselton or Busso as we call it is a town about 2.5 hours south of Perth. It's a popular tourist destination and famous for it's iconic and photogenic jetty which is the longest of it's type in the southern hemisphere. Although a popular holiday (and retirement!) destination for West Australians, it is far from the top of the list for young travellers. For backpackers, there is not that much to do or see in the town itself (other than the Jetty) but is definitely worth a stop as you pass through on your way to Margaret River or Dunsborough. The grassed area near the beach at the Jetty is a great spot to stop for lunch and of course take photos of the Busselton Jetty. While there, you can grab a map from the Visitor Centre which contains all the information to help you plan your visit to the entire Margaret River region. Busselton is essentially a gateway to the great southern.

Denmark, Western Australia
Denmark is a beautiful little town in the south of Western Australia and about half an hour's drive east from Albany or 4.5hrs drive from Perth. It's a very tourist focused town and known for it's close proximity to the famous Greens Pool & Elephant Rocks areas. We definitely recommend Backpackers make this a stop as they travel in the South of Western Australia. Cheap Accommodation in Denmark, WAThere is a small YHA in town called the Blue Wren Lodge and several Caravan Parks. We can recommend the Rivermouth Caravan Park which is a short drive out of town but still within decent walking distance for when you've had too many drinks at the pub.

Kalbarri (Town)
Kalbarri has always been a popular getaway destination for Perth families but is also popular stop for backpackers heading north from Perth. Some backpackers after travelling all of Western Australia even list Kalbarri as their favourite place, mainly due to the spectacular scenery in the surrounding Kalbarri National Park. The famous 'Natures Window' is one of those must-have-photo locations & often ends up as facebook profile pics! The town itself is a 6hr drive north of Perth and lovely little place with perfect temperatures almost all year round.

Shark Bay, Western Australia
The Shark Bay World Heritage Area is a must see destination for Backpackers (or anyone) heading north in Western Australia. The entrance to Shark Bay itself is approximately 700km north of Perth. Shark Bay is home to the famous dolphin feeding at Monkey Mia as well as natural attractions such as Hamelin Pool's stromatolites and the stunning Shell Beach. Other popular places to visit in Shark Bay also include Nanga Bay, the town of Denham, Little Lagoon, Fancois Peron National Park and Ocean Park Aquarium (shark feeding!). For Backpackers visiting Shark Bay, we recommend camping on the lawn area at Monkey Mia resort for a small (~10) fee or if you need a bed, you can also stay in the resort's dorm rooms. Both these along with many other types of accommodation are available at Monkey Mia Resort are only an easy stroll away from seeing the dolphins. Other places to stay within Shark Bay includes Denham where there is several caravan parks and if you wish to camp on scenic beach under the stars, you can get special permission from the shire to do so for one night and for only a small fee. Do not camp without permission and please keep anywhere you visit as beautiful as you left it!

Denham, Western Australia
Denham is a really neat little town of ~650 lucky people nestled in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area. Denham is located 830 km from Perth and only 25km from the famous dolphins at Monkey Mia. Denham is not only the gateway to Monkey Mia but offers a variety of accommodation in town. There is two small and semi-expensive supermarkets in town as well as a bottleshop. The supplies elsewhere within Shark Bay are very limited so it's best to do your shopping in Denham or even better, bring supplies from Geraldton or Carnarvon. As well as being in close proximity to Monkey Mia, Denham is also close to Little Lagoon, Ocean Park Aquarium, Francois Peron National Park and Shell Beach.
